Lakes Collective is proud to announce our FIFTH Summer showcase at Rydal Hall. This exciting exhibition showcases high quality art and craft from all Lakes Collective members.
It is where you will find creative work that is playful, experimental, new and original.

This year's optional theme is

"A Single Source", and visitors can follow the mini trail around the room to see how our members have interpreted this theme.

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
Learn with some of The Lakes'
best known artists and designer makers

A new development for 2016 is the opportunity to join a day workshop to learn from some of the foremost, contemporary artists and designer makers in The Lakes. Each day of the exhibition features a workshop taught by one of our Lakes Collective members.

Each workshop has a basic fee of £50 per person, plus the cost of materials
used on the day.

Workshops will take place in the Bishop Bulley Barn, Rydal Hall. The area where the workshops will take place does not have wheelchair access, but personal assistance can be provided to use the stairs.
Participants have access to a kitchen for hot and cold drinks (which will be provided free of charge) and can bring along a pack lunch or go along to the lovely
Schoolroom Tea Shop in the grounds.

The workshops are designed for students aged 16+, but if you are slightly younger please contact the tutor to check through lakescollective@gmail.com

Margaret Wilmot

A relaxed workshop working with beautiful steam-fix dyes on silk - no drawing skills required! We will use hot wax, easily applied with brushes of tjanting to form patterns and shapes, and salt crystals for texture.

Students will learn to apply liquid dyes to silk, pin silk out evenly on a frame for painting, use hot wax as a resist and build up layers for depth and contrast.

All stages will be demonstrated.

Fixing of work will be demonstrated, but the tutor will fix students’ pieces on their behalf if desired.

Please bring an apron, and a medium sized paint brush.

Margaret started painting on silk in 1996 and has been developing her skills and understanding of design ever since.
She is a keen walker and is inspired by the wild flowers and landscapes of Cumbria and other wild places.
